Scar Removal: Procedures and Products

by Martha Fitzharris

If you suffer from severe acne it isn't uncommon to end up with acne scars. In fact, anyone that has acne scars will be quick to admit that they can affect your self-esteem. In order to avoid this type of problem it is important that you consider scar removal and prevention as part of your acne treatment routine.

There are several methods for getting rid of scars. Usually the solution has to do with surgery (excision or grafting) or laser treatments (ablative and non ablative). However, there are some resurfacing procedures that can be less bothersome and just as effective.

Before purchasing an effective acne scar removal procedure, you will need to consider the location, size, and type of scar you're going to treat. Small scars, for example can be treated with microdermabrasion or scar creams. Unfortunately, larger scars may require surgery and skin grafting.

How to Deal with Acne Scars

In order to prevent the appearance of acne scars you first need to follow a regular cleansing routine, which includes a good acne cream. Keep in mind that untreated or undertreated acne is one of the main causes of acne scarring. If, however, you have severe acne, it may be close to impossible to avoid acne scars.

You can treat acne scarring with either surgical or resurfacing techniques. Again, the method you choose will depend on the location and extent of your scar tissue. Here is a list of the most popular procedures used to treat acne scars.

Punch Excision and Acne Scars

Punch excision is usually used in the case of deep, atrophic scars such as ice pick scars. This procedure includes the use of a sharp tool to "punch out" the area where the scar is located. After having removed the scar tissue, the edges of the excised skin are sutured together.

Acne Scars & Laser Therapy

Fractional laser therapy is perhaps the best type of laser treatment for scars. This type of laser bypasses the epidermis and works on the deeper layers of the skin. This will noticeably help the appearance of your skin without leaving many visible signs of treatment.

Scar Creams & Other Skin Care Products

Natural skin care creams and traditional skin care products can be equally effective in your fight against acne scars, however, you need to make sure you choose products that can help dissolve scar tissue and promote the production of collagen. Rose hip seed oil and snail serum are two of the best ingredients for scar treatment.

Rose hip oil can be used in its natural, oil form. It can also be found in a variety of skin care products including scar creams.

Following a consistent acne treatment routine can greatly reduce your chances of developing acne scars, however, if you suffer from severe acne then you may want to try BIOSKINCARE to help promote acne scar removal. BIOSKINCARE is a scar treatment that contains Helix aspersa muller extract, a natural ingredient that help you to effectively dissolve scars without producing unwanted side-effects.
