Acne Scar Removal: Surgery and Scar Care Gels

by Clarita Milles

Scars can be removed and treated a number of different ways. If scars are minor and not noticeable, they will fade on their own. Larger and more restrictive scars will probably require surgical intervention.

Besides surgical treatments, scars can be minimized with the use of creams. This is by far the gentlest form of treatment, and a welcomed alternative for skin that has been damaged by such problems as acne.

Acne scars are much more prevalent in people who never treated their acne or used the wrong treatment. This is precisely why it is so important that you maintain a consistent skin care routine and use the right acne cream.

Surgical Scar Removal

Sometimes surgery is the only alternative for removing acne scars. In this case there are two types of procedures that are used: punch excision and subdermal incision or subcision. Ice pick and other atrophic scars are usually treated with punch excision while subcision is used primarily for rolling scars.

Punch excision involves a cookie cutter type instrument that is used to remove scar tissue. The edges of the excised skin are sutured together to form one, small straight scar. If the removed scar is too large then a skin graft is used to close the wound.

Subcision is performed by introducing a small scalpel or small scissors beneath the skin to release the upper layers of skin from the scar tissue below. This procedure cause some bruising as blood rushes in to occupy the space between the skin and scar tissue. But this is exactly what helps levels out the skin.

Alternatives to Surgical Scar Removal

Scars can also be treated by using scar creams or scar care gels. This type of treatment can help treat minor scars or new scars better than old scars. They can also be used after one has undergone surgery in order to help promote scar less healing.

Natural scar gels and creams should contain ingredients that help break down scars and promote the growth of new skin cells. One incredible ingredient is snail serum. This gentle natural ingredient is effective and known to help dissolve scar tissue. It also helps trigger the production of healthy skin cells while also increasing the production of elastin and collagen.

Try and stay away from products that contain collagen because they won't help repair scar tissue. As a matter of fact, collagen molecules are too large and can't penetrate our skin pores which means that the product cannot reach the site of the scar to repair it.

Laser treatment is also a viable alternative, but it's not always the right one. So, first consult with a dermatologist to see if you are eligible for laser treatment.

In order to prevent scarring, an effective acne treatment is your best bet. However, if you're struggling with severe acne then you'll need the added support of an adequate and effective acne scar treatment alternative, such as BIOSKINFORTE. This natural skin care product can not only help treat mild to moderate forms of acne, but it can also help aid in acne scar removal.
